The gloves are off.

Heidi's blog action (the bees knees) is beginning to out pace mine and decisive action is required (It is hard to compete with Luke pictures☺). I have however been told by several people recently that they read my blog off and on but never leave a comment.

Excuse me?
Here is a formula for you blog reading cheap skates….

blog comment=$ for services

That’s right folks… I said it. All of you fellow bloggers know exactly what I am talking about. That magical “comments” number at the bottom of each posting drives your creative mind on and on to more engaging entries. They fuel the blog… period.

Comments don’t have to be ultra witty or even make sense. Take this recent one from marc, “Ha... you're like my wife.” I have no idea what this means but you know what, who cares? That OCD lawyer back east still loves me.

I of course realize that I have an obligation to maintain a high level of posting quality and consistency. I commit to do my best. This symbiotic relationship is a beautiful thing so don’t mess it up blog world.

In addition, I have become fascinated by the recent “couples blog” phenomena where couples use blogs to stay updated with each other. I’m sorry but my blog is for hardcore thoughts, no mushy stories about sugar cookies (see bees knees) dyno bites (see Connors) or picnics at the beach! (see matt and kay).

Ponder this until my next blog...

Myspace is for high schoolers
Facebook is for college students
Blogger is for young married couples?

this is like the blog version of public radio's semi-anual "radio-thon." Here's my 75 bucks. send me a treidi t-shirt please or mug please.

ez. brzy about time you commented! you still owe me back payments:)

heidi thanks for the dollar dollar:)

Connors... dammit which is it mug or shirt? (yes this blog is a veiled attempt for JC to create his own hard core invitation only stream on consciousness blog)

I agree with the sentiment...I'm always happy to see my comment number go up. I think sometimes bloggers wish only for comments and new posts from others...we forget we need to give a little as well.

And here's one more comment to up that comment number...I don't want to be outdone

Hi Trav & Heidi,
Your friend Courtney Parker Jacbosen here...
I completely agree with what you said. New to the blogging world I find little motivation if the the number of posts remains the same. My husband and I share a blog and I feel that it is mostly his... he writes the posts and is the wittier of the two of us. For Valentine's he posted a tribute to me, that strangely resembles a eulogy...and so I think I now check the blog more frequently to see what other wonderful things people have written about me. I satisfies my vanity! Good luck keeping up with Heidi! I am rooting for you!

Random Thoughts...

1) Stop blaming us for your sagging blogging mojo. Part of the problem here, Treidi, is that you need to think outside the box and find other ways to get "paid." Being the friend that I am... I'll give you a boost. Statcounter. It tells you how many hits you get, from whom and from where, how long they stay, what pages they visit, what pages of your blog are most popular over time, and, last but not least, what lawyer out east loves you the mostest.

2) Comments that only vaguely make sense are better than ones that fully do because they stand to generate even MORE comments.

3) Couples blogs are false advertising. Virtually every "couples blog" I've ever seen is actually just the chick in the relationship blogging for the family (Ole' Courtney Parker Jacobsen and her hubs are most definitely the exception to the rule). I guess if you're Mormon, it's not a bad way to go. We believe in proxy ordinances... why not proxy blogging?

4) I think Kalex has started a comment tab... by my tally, you're several blogs behind now.

kalex: thanks for padding the comments box. those connors are a real pain:)

courtney: welcome to my crazy mind. tell your hubby to free some space for your creative mind. heidi broke off months ago to be free!

marc, marc, marc, where do I begin?
-I thought an expose on the roll of comments in the blogging world was thinking out of the box. anyone can download widgets! where is the fun in that?

-I'll remember to write vague comments on your blog.

-thanks for the advice you are the ultra blogging master even though you have had to tone it down for work. good better best right?

Did you just call me out. you know i have no control over the picnic posts. I think this calls for another man post. I drink your milk shake!

I am happy to be part of that "real pain" in your life again. The hubby tells me he spoke with you (this being ashley) and that you think next weekend for some connors/snyder time. is this true? i will consult your wifes blog as well.. what a pain. I have to go to both blogs...... ha!

Treidi said...

Matt and Kay-Darn right I called you out. I can only take so many photos of your adorable little girl. I need to pinch those little girl Jones cheeks!

Drink it my friend... drink it all.

Travis-

Thanks for alway commenting on my blog. I will try to actually comment on yours instead of just reading it and then telling people about it, and then not telling you how much i enjoyed it.

Sorry, i think i don't have proper grammar. Kate is probably cringing just looking at this.

trav,
you know how i feel about this....i love to see little johnny's new haircut but i would rather read an opinion post.

Whit- your blog is easy to comment on... I only need to think of one comment every 2 months to keep up:)

Angie-per your request I will make my next blog... "Why Clay Aiken is the greatest American Idol"

You're welcome.

Hmm... if Marc weren't snoring on the couch (its true, he actually DOES sleep!) I'd ask him what that meant, but I'll settle for a mention in your post-I'm honored! For the record I comment best on senseless posts. I won't read anything philosophical and I won't comment on something political unless Marc makes me.
And I like American Idol.

I've heard some bad things about Spacebook and MyFace, so I'm pretty nervous about getting involved there, but I've only read the occasional curse word and sexual innuendo on these blogs.

Facebook's actually pretty clean Phil. You should join up. You'd be the campus rage.

Marc-A philosophical question, my friend: how does one use Facebook to become a "rage on campus" when all postmodern rage must be, by definition, "rage against the machine"?
