It seems as families begin to grow like ours they are faced with the inevitable question... do we get an suv or a minivan? All practical reasoning would lead to the mini-van choice. They are most likely better for function, gas mileage, and purchase price. They are just missing one thing... guts! As my friend pointed out recently mini vans are great as long as you accept the immasculating factor of driving one around. So I am thinking if my manhood is at stake let's go all the way! This beast from Ford makes the Suburbans, Seqouias, and Armadas of the world look like kid toys. Here is it's description...
"Based on a Ford Super Duty truck, the F-650 is powered by a 7.2-liter Caterpillar diesel engine. Inside, it's got hardwood floors, custom captain's chairs, a 42-speaker sound system, two 16-inch TVs that drop down from the ceiling and another 42-inch plasma screen TV. It also has four computer workstations and, in case someone doesn't see you coming, a train horn.
The total price is about $200,000."
Wow! We could actually live in there and with house prices dropping it might even be a better investment. I wonder if I could depreciate it on my taxes?

Let's buy it! Do they make a hybrid version?
we'll split it with you. i've got 100k to blow anyway.
if heidi had proposed this I would be certain that this was a classic bait and switch. "ok, you're right honey, 200k may be a bit too much to spend on a car, how about we settle for a 50k lexus? hybrid. with a satellite dish on top. that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for our family...."
but coming from travis...I'm just not sure what to make of this.
hey i was wondering a few things...
1- do you know what you are having?
2- When is your due date?
3- When are we hanging out?????? We could meet 1/2 way and do dinner or something!
Connors-I am obviously entering a mid life crisis (I turn 30 in april) and to compensate for my lost youth I am attracted to a diesel powered monster machine!
Ashley-We are having a boy, May 14, asap. I need a fix big time. Also check out my blog links, they include my dad, jack, kate, and heidi with her own blog. Our shared one wasn't quite adequate for her creative sensibilities. I'll leave you figure out which one is which!
I'm imagining an LA mom driving this in the carpool lane with only her month-old baby....thank goodness we have a way to reward people for conserving energy!
Hypocrite alert: Sometimes I drive in the carpool lane with Hamilton just because I can.
kalex... just because you can or just because you SHOULD because you are a proud mother:)
if you're gonna talk the "i'm a man and this is my blog" talk, you better walk the walk. I liked it better when it said "balls."
come on man... my mother in law reads this:)
sorry Kristin.
I suggest a brown 1980 Honda Civic station wagon instead--with North Carolina plates reading PHD UNC.
(If you get a red Isuzu Trooper, Luke will eventually drive it into the ground--after taking it up a bunch of hills on the sly.)
